About me

© Indira Emmerlich

Inspired by the melodies echoing through my family's history, where a visionary composer and a passionate conductor left an indelible mark, I was gently introduced to the arts from a young age. Alongside violin lessons, my creative journey was also guided by piano teachings from my great-grandmother, a devoted piano instructor.

In this symphony of the arts, my grandmother was a gifted solo dancer in her younger years, while my mother was passionate about ballroom dancing.

In 2006, during a period of personal health challenges, I began to delve into the depths of my soul. Digital painting serendipitously entered my life, becoming a mirror to my inner world. In hindsight, I recognize its healing essence and am deeply grateful.

Fate also introduced me to several extraordinary individuals whose inspiring influence resonates within me to this day.

Music remains a potent source for my art. As I paint, I am surrounded by music of all genres; it touches my soul, centers me, and unleashes an intuition for abstract shapes and harmonious color compositions.

There is also an underlying thread that runs through my work and has occupied my mind over the years:

"Where does human existence begin and where is the beginning of its end?"

Talking to children in particular demonstrates just how little we actually know on this subject. With their uniquely blunt, curious nature they demand clear answers to the fundamental question of "Why...?".

And you always learn something about yourself at the same time.

Past encounters, some job-related and deeply moving conversations with terminally ill people and others approaching the end of their lives have fundamentally altered my perspective on the world and form stepping stones along my artistic path.

In the last four years, I have completed various trainings and continuing education, primarily focused on the intricate connection of body, mind, and spirit, as well as spiritual healing and energy work. These pursuits have not only deepened my understanding of holistic well-being and inner balance, but also paved the way for my future professional endeavors in this field.
